To be honest I was expecting to it to be a complete disaster based on the location and the fact I haven't danced in months. I was dripping sweat and breathing heavy after about 15 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the music selection was AWESOME, very Zumba authentic choices with Spanish songs and some more mainstream choices (but none of that pop crap), the choreography was fun, and the instructors were high energy. There was a guy and a girl, John and Amy who I later found out were married (awwww), who switched off leading the songs. Pretty sure Zumba John thinks he's Michael Jackson which made the class that much more fun and his positive vibes that much more infectious. Amy led a dance to Beyonce's 'Run the World (Girls)' that was kick-ass and I couldn't help but feel empowered as a woman. The last song of the class was the current phenom 'Gangnam Style', can't say that I saw that one coming but it was a blast and I sang along to the only words I know: heyyyyyyyyy sexy ladies!
I felt so good at the end of class my body tingled as I stretched out and cooled down. My hair was soaked to the ponytail and I couldn't get rid of the smile of satisfaction plastered on my face. I had totally forgotten that I was dancing in a skating rink and really gotten into it. I thanked the instructors after and they told me about a couple other classes they teach at different locations and I am looking forward to checking them out. One of my roomates told me that music can be just as addicting as any drug; I would have to say that for me dancing is my addiction and yesterday I got my fix.
